Olga brings news!

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

January  19th,

So far this week has been pretty mellow. Olga and I have worked out together alone.  My mom and dad have been working lots and so Olga is trying out what she learned on me last week. It is going pretty good.

This morning at 8 am Olga comes to my room. Mom was giving me my meds when she showed up. My mom asked what it was that she needed as we don’t start workouts till 10:30 am.  Olga simply said I quit. My mom’s mouth once again drops open to the floor. Why asks my mom? Olga states that she has found another job. Another job???? Excuse me, but you just accepted this job. You have not even been here three weeks. What in the world are you talking about? Yes she says, I had interviewed for another job in December in San Jose and they have offered me the position. Just like that she hands my mom a letter of resignation and walks out the door. Needless to say my mom is very upset. I mean really upset more brava than sad. We understand that everyone has ambitions and expectations to succeed in life but you don’t accept a job one day and then turn around and leave the next. It is no easy thing hiring someone for me and much time and energy gone into finding Olga. Besisdes mom was frustrated that she had Sofia here all last week training her! That was time and money not well spent.

Mom decided to call Tia Maria as her daughter Maria has been here for  awhile visiting and we have become friends. Mom asked “pequena” that is what we call her since she is the younger Maria to see if she would be willing to help out while we  search for another therapist. Maria says yes and heads over this morning to go with me and mom to the platform.  Maria is not a PT but her heart is in the right place and she likes me. Mom showed her how to stretch me and how to roll me over and get me to practice lifting my head. We did a few other easy moves and Maria did really well. Mom later showed her how to give me lunch and Maria has agreed to help out a few hours a day so that mom can get some things done with our business and her new real estate job. Thanks Maria for giving us a needed hand and for being there for us when we called upon you. I look forward to getting to know you better and can only hope that the next PT will be much better and more responsible than the last.

Will keep you posted!

Sunday swim

January 15th, 2011

Sofia left yesterday. Olga is by herself for the first time now. Her mom was here the first week with her and Sofia the second. I wonder how she is liking being alone?  Olga has always lived with her parents and this is her first venture out of the house and away from home. I think if it were me I might enjoy the tranquility of being out here. It is very different from the big city of San Jose. I hope Olga thinks the same as me!

It was so hot this morning that after I woke from my morning nap me, mom and dad went for a nice swim before lunch. I was sporting my new watermelon bathing suit with a built in diaper! We swam for 45 minutes all the while listening to Bob Marley. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning. When it was time to get out mom asked my dad to help her pull my bathing suit off in the pool. My new swimsuit is very tight fitting and it comes off easier in the water than out. So dad begins to pull my bathing suit off when suddenly he gasps and says OMG there is poop coming out everywhere! My mom yanks me out of the water and hangs me over side while dad’s face is getting red. In almost  4 years I have never ever had an accident in the pool. Why would mom think there would be poo in there this time? Guess there is a first time for everything! Oops, guess mom should have struggled with the swimsuit outside of the water and not inside! We learned a few things today, 1. My swimsuit really works well, mom never knew there was a surprise waiting in there. 2.Never take my swimsuit off again in the water. 3. After draining the water in the pool we found a small tear on the bottom of it which we were able to patch! After cleaning the pool from top to bottom and refilling it back up we should be ready to go for a swim this weekend! I sure hope so. You know life is all about learning. You are never too young or too old to learn something new!

A week of training for everyone!

January 9th 2012

Sofia arrived Sunday night with Olga. Olga had gone back to San Jose for a wedding so they were able to ride the same bus and ferry together. Mom and dad had dinner waiting when they arrived. Much excitement is in the air. The real training begins tomorrow. Mom has done a great job showing Olga the ropes but Sofia has so much more to show Olga. Monday morning we were out at the platform, I had a good night’s sleep so was primed and ready to go.  If you can imagine, I have three different sets of hands on me during workout. Sofia, Olga and mom. Sofia shows Olga a move two to three times then she has Olga do it a few times, and sometimes my mom says she wants to do it too! Geez, these guys are flipping me around like a doll! I am in good spirits though! I am very active and smiling lots and of course working really really hard! It is very hot here right now!

On Wednesday we decided to go for a swim and show Olga how much I love the water. It was heavenly… At first getting in the water was super cold! It was a shock to my system but once I got used to it I was happy as a clam! 🙂 We swam for a little over half an hour. It felt great to be free again. I am able to move my body and float around all by myself. It is such a wonderful feeling of freedom. It truly is one of the most favorite activities I can do! My body is at total liberty to glide in the pool and float around. I stretch my arms, my legs, my back. Que Rico! I do love the summer just for this reason!

The rest of the week went well. Olga seems to be getting the hang of these exercises and me. I think she is going to work out fine at least I hope so anyway.

I want to thank Sofia from the bottom of my little heart for coming out here this week and showing Olga how to work with me. It really meant alot to me that she committed to come back and train and that is exactly what she did. You will be missed so much Sofia. Thanks for being here this week for me and for being one of my best friends.

Olga’s first day

January 2, 2012

Olga started work today with me. She and her mother came out today and moved in all her things to the rancho, our little garage apartment. Sofia liked the rancho, it has it quirks but overall is really cozy and perfect for one person! Since Olga arrived in the morning we waited to have my first workout at  3pm.We headed for the platform and mom began to show Olga how to work with me, hold me, and talk to me. It went pretty good for the first day. We were back at it Tuesday morning and mom continues to show Olga how to work with me and all the different exercises we do. She seems to be confident although lacking in experience when it comes to doing exercises with me and handling my body. I think she will get better though with practice and time.

Next week, comes Sofia! 🙂 She is coming to train Olga for the entire week!  We are very happy about that as Sofia worked so well with me and invented all different kinds of exercises with me that it will be great for her to show Olga all that she knows.   The rest of the week went fine with Olga. She is learning and I am trying to get used to new hands touching me.

New Year’s Eve

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

December 31st 2011

This New Year’s was much better than last year’s! I am so grateful to be here and bring in yet another year. Last year I was not so sure if I was going to make it that night. It was a very scary time for us all but we are all so blessed and have so much to be thankful for especially me that I am here and enjoying this day!

We headed to the market today to sell some plants and granny came down with us and took me for a nice long stroll on  the beach while my parents worked. It was a beautiful day. After we watched the sunset we came home. Mom and dad had plans to go out with friends and my granny was going look after me. I was sleeping soundly before she even got over here!

This is going to be  a great year I just know it! I am going to be healthy and happy and do many great things this year! I am getting anxious to meet Olga my new therapist. She shows up on Monday. I am ready to work out. Unfortunately Daniella my first PT was sick and was not able to work out with me but for four days over her Christmas break. Mom and I did some exercises together but I am ready to get back into my routine!

Happy New Year’s everyone.
