Happy Holidays

Tuesday, December 31st, 2013

Happy New Year’s Eve to all my friends out there!!! Hope everyone has had a joyful holiday! In looking back at this year I have so much to be thankful for….. I am thankful for my parents for taking such good care of me and for Maria Jose staying with us for a year and continues to stay working with me. I am thankful for my health. Ever since my Nissen surgery I have made leaps and bounds. I am so thankful for the doctors who took such good care of me and believed in me. I am thankful for Conejo our neighbors horse that comes to see me each week and gives me many rides. I am thankful for my family and all my friends that love and support me. This truly has been our best year ever and we never take for granted not one single day that we were are here on this beautiful earth God made for us. I am thankful for spending Christmas at home with my family.

With a heavy heart I have lost friends. Just recently Brady 5 years old and Luise 4 years old passed away. They both had Lissencephaly like me. It is unfair that they had to go so soon. I feel sorry for their mom and dad and all their friends and family that are mourning their loss. They are with other Liss angels now. This is why I am so grateful for every day. Three years ago today I was in ICU and on an oscilating ventilator. I very easily could have slipped away. I was very very sick and my parents were very worried. I stayed in ICU for six weeks. Everyone had prepared my parents for the worse outcome. I made it. I am happy to be bringing in 2014. Let’s hope this year is just as good if not better than last. Without health we have nothing. Here is to a healthy and happy 2014. Fly high my angel friends, you are soaring now and playing and running with all the rest.

My room!

Monday, December 30th, 2013

I am so excited to share with you the mural in my room! I love it! Luis Posada, known artist and now friend came to our house and spent 5 days painting me a sunset with a big beautiful tree and my oh so famous Three Little Birds.. Notice the color of the birds are painted in the color of the Jamican flag.. 🙂 I absolutely love it!! I have spent much time staring at all the beautiful colors. Luis did such an incredible job. He was so much fun to have in our house. He has a great big belly laugh and a smile that would melt your heart… He told me he fell in love with me and that me and my parents have changed his life.. He is so kind. He was very kind to us and has become a friend. Thank you Luis for making my room so beautiful!!! There is not a person that comes in that does not love it! You truly created a masterpiece!!! One of a kind!
Love ya,
Malia

November

Tuesday, December 24th, 2013

Hello my friends!
November has come and gone.. It was rather a quiet one… I made zero trips into San Jose. My mom and Karen made a few trips in for shopping but I just stayed home and had fun with Maria Jose and dad. It was really nice to be home this month. Besides from the daily seizures bugging me I am doing really good. I have not been sick in a long time. It feels good to be healthy! I continue to work out daily, ride my horse Conejo, and have slowly but surely began swimming again… I was able to see more turtles hatching again! We were down at Chrissy’s swimming and walked by the turtles and they had just hatched! I got to hold a “special” turtle as his leg was deformed but we watched him go all the way to the ocean. He was slower than everyone else but he made it!!! 🙂 This was my second time now! It was great to do it again! I also got new glasses! Hot pink and square! Everyone tells me how much they love them! I like them because I can see better!!

Our good friends Suzanne, Will, Raquel, Cooper and Vivian came to vist us from Houston. It was their first trip here. We spent Thanksgiving together at Kalapiti’s. We had a great time. We all went to Playa Hermosa together and grilled hot dogs and put our feet in the ocean. Vivian was really sweet to me… She is close to my age. We had fun hanging out together!! She got on Conejo with me one day when I was riding with Maria Jose. It was just the three of us and we had fun! Before you know it it will be Christmas time…. This has been a great year for us, especially for me!
