Austin Friends!

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Hola!

Last week, Curtis from Evangeline cafe came to Costa Rica for his week vacation! Last year at the auction, he bought a week stay at my Aunt Holly’s beautiful house in Costa Rica. You may remember Curtis he donated all the food for the volunteers! From what everyone told me it was awesome!!!

Curtis came with some buddies from Austin! They came by to visit us and take a walk in the gardens. It just so happens one of his friends is playing for me at my benefit. His name is Greg and he plays in the band Los Pistoles! My dad’s guitar was out and Greg decided to pick it up and play for me! Wow, I have never been seranaded to like that before! I loved watching him play! I was dancing in my seat. I kept kicking my legs and moving my hands and was really enjoying the beat! He said I had good rythym. I cant wait to see him again at my party! My mom was teasing me that I had a crush on him the way I kept staring at him! Geez, mom I am too young for that yet! ha!

Thanks for coming to visit me Curtis, Greg, Beth and Karen I had a great time with you all!!

Trip to San Jose

Monday, September 13th, 2010

We left last Sunday to head to San Jose to meet with my new physical therapist and take Tio Jack to the airport! I was measured for my stander and new high chair Geovanny is making me! He is quite an amazing guy! Not only does he get me to move my body and do things I have never done before he is a special needs carpenter as well! I had two days of workout with him and boy did he ever work me out!

We spent the week in San Jose as I had to get my gtube button changed out for a new one! I was real proud of my mom. She told the doctor she wanted to change the button so he let her and stood by her side and coached her on how to take out my old button and put my new one in! She did a great job, and I was not bothered by the change at all!  I am good to go hopefully for another six months! When you live in the jungle you dont want to have a blow out on your button and not have your parents know how to put a new one in! 😉

After the button change I had to get blood drawn for a bunch of test for the neuro I will see at Dell’s Children’s Hospital. On a good note, my veins are getting a little bigger and they dont have to stick me so much now! Matter of fact, Maureen the nurse who draws my blood can get it the first try! She is awesome!

We are getting excited about going home! Soon we will have my party! Yeah! Cant wait!
Love to all,
Malia
