Getting Better!

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Well it has been almost 10 days since I got this cold! We are headed into Austin today, I had to miss therapy last week, but am giving it a try today with Carole. I am feeling better and coughing less. My dad is now back and it is great to have him here. He helps my mom alot. I have a 10 am appt with Carole.  We have a house rented for my big weekend. We are meeting Andy, Suzanne, Greg, and Curtis for lunch at Evangeline’s after my workout! I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Cold/Allergies?

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

The night after I spent all day at the doctor’s offices I began to cough alot. By the next morning I had a fever. My mom is now worried! I just dont feel so hot! There is absolutely no humidity in Texas right now as a matter of fact my curls have gone! We had to buy a humidifier for my room as it was so dry and it really helps with my lungs. There is also alot of ragweed and pollen in the air so we are not sure if this is a cold or allergy but either way I dont feel so good! My mom called Dr. Reardon and he did not like the fact that I had fever and that I had refluxed so much the day before! He suggested to my mother to go and get  a xray to rule out pnuemonia. My goodness I do not want that ever again. We went to take an xray at a clinic in town. It turns out I have no fluid in my lungs so that was great news!

The doc thinks I should just tough it out and not take antibiotics so that is what I am doing! I am ready to go home and get into bed. My mom is having to cut my food back and not feed me so fast as my little lungs are having a hard time keeping up with everything. Mom is giving me a steam bath two times a day and beating on my chest to help loosen up everything. Thankfully, I am able to cough. Last year I could not cough and that made it very hard for me to get better! This year I am stronger and I hope I get rid of this soon as I have a party to attend!

Opthamologist

After my EEG, I had another appt! I was still not feeling so good and was continuing to reflux. We made it to the Dr’s office at almost 4 pm. I could not stop refluxing and my mom was starting to get worried. It really is painful when this happens! Dr. Onan, was kind enough to squeeze me in her very busy schedule and my mom really wanted her to check out my eyes, so I toughed it out and let them dilate my eyes. We had to wait a bit for my eyes to dilate and meanwhile I am still refluxing. My mom called my GI in Costa Rica, and  he too was in agreement that the EEG could have triggered this reflux problem! I just hope it passes soon.

After Dr. Onan examined my eyes, she informed my mom that I am far sighted in both eyes and I have a stigmatism. She suggested that I get glasses. She said since we cant really tell exactly what I see that the eyeglasses might be able to help my brain see things more clearly. She also told us that if I accept the glasses than that means they are helping! If I dont like them and won’t where them the Doc said well we would just be out a pair of glasses! It cant hurt to try them out it would be wonderful for me if I can see things more clearly. My friend Karen is bringing them to me on Monday. I will let you know how I like them! Right now I just want to get home and get some rest we have been in Dr’s offices since 11am this morning and it is now 5pm! Ready for some relaxation!

EEG

Hello!

So far I have had a really great week! I have done very well with my PT! On October 7th I have my first EEG after a year and I as well am seeing a Pediatric Opthamalogist. My grandma came with my mom and I as my dad is still in Canada visiting his family. At noon, the technician attatched a ton of electrodes to my head. I am in a room staring at the ceiling and my mom is holding my hand. The EEG will take 30 minutes. Dr. Reardon wants to see my brain activity. After the EEG, he will study it and then see me and mom.

After the EEG, I really did not feel so good and started to reflux something terrible. I hardly ever reflux and I could not stop myself from doing it. I must have had 5 episodes before we got out the door. My mom did not feed me any lunch as she was worried about me refluxing. We had an appt to see the neurologist at 1pm. Every time I reflux it makes me cry.

We went to Dr. Reardon, and I fell asleep on the table waiting for him to come in the room. I finally am getting some rest from the reflux. The doctor was not sure why I was doing this, but it all started immediately after the EEG so my mom thinks it has something to do with that! Our appt did not last too long. I was sleeping and we did not want to wake me up so Dr. Reardon did not get to see me show off, maybe next year.

Work out time!

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

After a great weekend at my grandparent’s house  it was time for me to get back to work! I had my first workout with Carole my Austin PT! It has been a year since she last saw me and she could not get over how big I am! She was pretty impressed with my head strength and how I keep my hands relaxed. I did really good during my session and will be coming back tomorrow to work out again. Carole wants me to concentrate on my head strength and standing! Everyone wants me up on my feet! I dont really mind it so much either. I am getting the hang of it! We have a busy week!

Headed to Texas!

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

Hi

We made it to San Jose with no problems! It has been raining so much here! We are all looking forward to seeing the sunshine in Texas! We arrived at our good friend Diego’s house in San Jose.  Diego, Rosy, and Ariana were kind enough to let us stay with them! My mom went to check us in on line for our flight out the next morning and noticed that her passport was expired! Uh oh. This did pose quite a problem, as our flight was out the next morning. As it turned out my dad and I had to fly solo together to Texas. We sure did have alot of stuff to carry with us! You know I have alot of items I have to take with me! My mom said goodbye to us the next morning and she went straight to the embassy. She was able to get a passport and unbelievably she caught the next flight out at 2pm!

I was very kind to my dad. I knew he was really nervous flying with me alone and not having my mom around to help so I did not give him too much trouble! Dad, I have to tell ya, you did a great job! He had help from the nice flight attendant so that he could get my car seat in the airplane seat. He gave me lunch on the plane and we had no problems clearing customs and immigration! Whew, we made it to Texas and mom was right behind us! I dont think she will let that happen again!

Cant wait to see George and Grace! We are staying with them for a few days before heading to my grandma and grandpa’s house in Lockhart!
