Malia Moore

Andy was here visiting us! We had an awesome time! We went to the beach, we walked the property, we played on the balcony!!!  I also had time to show him my yummy papayas, bananas, and my beautiful nursery and yoga platform! My dad and Andy had a great time too, fishing and going to the zip line by our house.  All of us enjoyed some scrumptious meals out of our kitchen too! 

Thanks for coming to visit me and for keeping my website looking so good!! We cant wait for next year’s visit so we can do it all over again!

What a wonderful Valentine’s day we had. Sunday is my most favorite day anyway as it is my day of rest!! No workouts for me on Sunday! 🙂 Our good friends Bepe, Monica y Maya have opened a yummy Italian restaurant right around the corner from our house! They make homemade pasta, pizza, roasted chicken, and much more! We are so happy to have such a yummy place so close by! We went with our friends Miguel y Julia! What a great time! We saw many other friends there as everyone was wanting to try out the new restaurant and fantastic food from our friends! Thanks for such a memorable Valentine’s! We will be back again!!

I know you are probably thinking what in the world is Malia talking about???? I know it sounds crazy but it is true! My mom put me to sleep in my bed and the next morning when she came to get me out of bed she noticed I had a huge terrible burn on my right arm. Now I do have a mosquito net around my bed but sometimes these little bugs can sneak in and you never even notice they are there until you are sleeping. So yes, this bug secretes cantharidin (a toxic compound in their bodies) which causes the big ugly blisters! My dad said it was like a second degree burn! It hurt especially when the blister popped! My mom doctored my arm everyday and basically bathed my arm in Aloe Vera! Aloe Vera is amazing, in no time my arm was healed. We continue to put it on so I will not have a scar on my arm. My mom talked to my Pa Pa Shroyer and he told her that the bug was a blister beetle, turns out we have these in Texas too!  So my mom did some research and sure enough there was the little bug, there are over 7,500 different types of blister bugs! ugh!!  Anyway, I am doing much better now. Blister bugs beware! My mom is on the lookout for you!!!!

Well after a month of being home and resting I am doing so much better!!! We had a great Christmas and New Year’s! We went to San Jose last week so that I could see all my doctors and therapists! It was a successful trip. My GI was super impressed on how well my gtube site looked. He asked if we were doing anything special to it and my parents said yes! They have been putting Aloe Vera on me three times a day and it seems to really be helping heal my wound. We were happy about that!!! My pediatrician was quite content as I gained 2 lbs and am now weighing in at a big 18lbs. My physical and occupational therapist were also happy on how well I am doing considering that I had basically three months of not working out! So all in all everyone was happy with me and I am happy to be back at home!!!! Yesterday I intentionally grabbed my rattle and picked it up and shook it around! My mom and dad were thrilled to see me do this!! I was pretty impressed with myself as well!

I get my tube changed for a button at the end of next month. We are all looking forward to that as the tube gets in the way of many things and I cant go swimming until I have my button placed! Will keep everyone posted! Thanks for checking in!!
