My trip to Curu Park!

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

December 23rd,

We decided to venture to Curu Park. It is about 45 minutes away from home… We have driven passed it a million times on the way to the ferry and have always mentioned that we want to go. Well this year we finally did it! My parents, grandparents and I headed out the Friday before Christmas. It was a beautiful day. Curu is a wildlife refuge and also has some very pristine beaches. We took Salmon sandwiches for our picnic and my stroller and beach chair.

We started out on a hike/stroll to go and see the Spider monkeys. These monkeys are really cool they stand up and walk on two legs like humans do. They are behind a fence right now as they were saved from being house pets. They seem very sweet. We continued on our hike and had a lovely walk thru the jungle. We came to a couple of sketchy parts where mom and dad had to pick me up in my stroller and hike me up and over some rocks and huge roots! We also crossed a suspension bridge! The bridge was so skinny we did not think at first my stroller would fit but it did and we made it over the bridge! How exciting.Us Moore’s don’t let anything get in our way! 🙂

After our hike we headed for the beach. The tide was up but that was okay dad found us the perfect spot and we all sat down for a nice picnic lunch! I was starved after all that strolling! The afternoon seemed to fly by and before you know it was time to go home. It was such a lovely day had by us all. We will definitely be back! Maybe when my cousins come to see me!

Our Christmas Tree!

Christmas 2011

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

My house has been full of good Christmas music, yummy smells coming from my kitchen, a Christmas palm tree, lights, and many many packages under the tree!  Today I finally get to open the presents that I have been looking at for days with of course the help of mom and dad! I woke up early then hit they hay again so I had to open my presents in two sessions! I received many cute clothes from my granny and some awesome books from my grandma and aunt and uncle! Of course mom and dad had some great things for me to play with as well. The present of them all that my all my grandparents pitched in to get me was an IPAD! Wow what a super cool device! I love it!  There are so many great applications that my parents have downloaded. Books light up and talk to me, I can touch the screen very easily and make many different sounds! I am playing the xylophone now!!! And the really neat thing is I can see my family on the  IPAD. I talked to my aunt’s and uncles and cousins today! It was great to see everybody!!!!  The IPAD is going to be a great learning device for me! The camera and video are really nice too!

Thanks so much grandparents you are the best!!!!!!

Dad has smoked a fine Christmas turkey that smells wonderful and my mom and grandma’s have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen. What a beautiful day it is.

Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad to all my friends and family out there!

Today is Sofia’s last day of work with me. We have had a great week together. Sofia has been telling me many stories and letting me know in a gentle way that she is leaving. She will be back in January to train my new therapist Olga. I will be happy to see her again and am looking forward to getting to know Olga. I hope we can become as good as friends as me and Sofia.

Today we had our Christmas party. We had much fun. My grandma and mom have been baking all week making yummy treats for all. My dad made fajitas and we exchanged gifts and took many pictures. Sofia and her family gave me a really cool outfit for when I am in San Jose. Sofia’s mom came to help Sofia pack up. As a matter of fact, on Saturday we are all leaving together as I have come up with another Urinary Tract infection. I am not feeling bad but my monthly urine culture showed up positive so I have been taking antibiotics since Monday. Dra. Castro wants me to come in and take another urine sample to make sure the bacteria is gone and that the antibiotics are working. So off we go back to San Jose. Me, mom, dad and grandma are heading in together. We were only gone for two nights which was great and my urine test  came back negative so we were given the green light to head back home on Monday. My parents managed to squeeze in some last minute shopping. Well actually mom and grandma because dad stayed home and took care of me. He told me he did not miss having to be out there in the city shopping!

My granny and paw paw Brown are also coming in today. We plan to have a wonderful Christmas together and I am looking forward to getting spoiled my grandparents. I am doing really well and feel very strong.

Mucho amor,
Malia!

Back from San Jose

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

Our time spent in San Jose went very well. We went to see Geovanny my other therapist in San Jose, and picked up my new stand for my chair I sent in the kitchen. I am no longer sitting so low to the floor but am higher up and can see more of what is going on around me.  I love it!

My dad picked up my grandma at the airport late Tuesday night. I was so happy to see her Wednesday morning. We have been having lots of fun together reading books and baking Christmas goodies.

Yesterday we went to the market in St. Teresa to sell plants. Grandma and Sofia came along to entertain me and push me up and down the beach. I like going to the beach! After the market we went to Christine’s Christmas party for the new art gallery her and her husband opened up. We got there early before all the people started showing up and I really enjoyed looking at all the art! Once everyone arrived it was time for me to go home. All the voices and people that I did not know was starting to stress me out! Once we got home we ordered pizza and decorated our Christmas palm. It turned out very pretty. I like all the lights and different colors of the ornaments.

I have been feeling good lately and full of smiles. The last two nights I have been sneezing and coughing. I feel good and have no fever maybe it is just something in the air that is bothering me! I hope so!

This is Sofia’s last week. She leaves on Saturday to head back to her home with her mom. I am sure we are going to have a great week.
