March 27,2012

It was time for an adventure. We are headed to CURU park today. Remember I was there in December strolling around the trails looking at spider monkeys! We are taking the gang this time and going to Playa Quesera. Our good friend and neighbor Miguel called and arranged for us a boat ride to this private beach inside the park. We were to meet at the park at 10am. The Victorian crew was in charge of making all the sandwiches for our lunch that day, mom and dad had to get me and all my stuff packed up and Irene came over early this morning to give me breakfast while mom and dad got us ready to go. We were to leave by 9am as it is an hour drive out to the park. We unbelievably left on time.

Once we arrived at the park Luis the captain was waiting for us. We had a few things to take with us and he was very kind and patient while we loaded up the boat. It was a beautiful day. Mom had a talk with him once we all got in the boat not to forget that we were out at this deserted beach and to please remember to come pick us up back up. It turns out that last year he forgot to pick up Miguel and his family so mom wanted to make sure that did not happen to us!!! He promised he would remember! 😉

The beach, well the words are hard to find. It was stunning, it was something right out of a movie. It had white sand and bluish green water. It was so nice. I enjoyed the boat ride. Once we got our camp set up I snuggled in for a quick cat nap. Later Irene and mom took me over to see some horses. There was a small group there on a horse ride and were just leaving when we we showed up. After they left we were the only ones there. We had such a wonderful day together.

At 3:30pm the captain was there right on time, and this time he drove fast back to the park and I really liked the wind whipping thru my hair, the sound of the engine, and the high speed of the boat. What was so great about today was that we were just like any other family. We had fun, we were spontaneous, we did not let anything stand in our way of having a good time. Mom and dad chilled out too! I am ready to go back again!

March 24th

Today my Uncle Blaine & Auntie Tracey and cousins Ethan and Gavin are coming to visit me! They arrived in Costa Rica last week and have been to Arenal checking out the volcano and hot springs. I am so excited to see them! The last time I saw them was almost three years ago.

My dad went to pick them up at Tambor. Mom and I were getting everything ready for their arrival and went to pick them fresh flowers. I was so happy to see them when the finally made it to our home. We went for a stroll and walked around the property that afternoon. I am looking foward to spending time with them and getting to know them better!

That night when mom was making my supper, Auntie Tracey asked if there was something she could do and mom said yes! She showed her how to give me supper so that mom and dad could make dinner for everyone else. Auntie learned in no time and has been helping by giving me dinner ever since!

On Sunday we went down to Los Cedros, one of our favorite beaches, to watch the sunset go down. It was a really nice afternoon except that Selva and Indio got into big trouble. They attacked a nice Labrador that was sitting next to us and caused all kinds of trouble. They were banished to the car for the rest of the trip.

All in all it was a lovely weekend!

Things are back to normal in my house. Luisa came to work today and Irene did too! 🙂 Both of them are feeling much better! I am ready to get back to my routine as well!

Yesterday mom went and showed property in St. Teresa and dad kept me all day. It was nice to hang out with my dad. I am excited to start working with Irene at my yoga platform. Mom is very busy today as she has lots of work to catch up on and I have much work to do too!!

Unfortunately I have been having more seizures than normal. My holding my breath seizures have come back again and the simple partial seizures where one side of my body freezes up. Mom and dad are wondering if my levels have gone back to normal since the anitibiotic I took at the hospital wiped them out. It was like starting from scratch again on building up my levels. We will not know anything until we test my blood again after Easter.

Irene has done a great job with me this week. She works really well with me. She is funny too! She makes me laugh! We have had a great week together! I am feeling very comfortable with her. She is very sweet to me and knows just how to handle me. For our first week together I think we have done a great job!

Friday is my mom and dad’s 10th wedding anniversary! Mom and dad hardly ever do anything together but today they are going sailing in Mal Pais. Irene is going to take care of me all day! Irene feels comfortable being in charge and Luisa and Bismark are not far! Mom and dad left at noon and went sailing for the day. Carl and Angela joined them for the day and afterwards they went to their house to watch the sunset. They then went out to dinner and came home around 10 pm. Irene and I had a great time together. We watched some movies on my IPAD and she read me stories and tucked me into bed! I behaved myself for Irene and my parents were so happy to have had the chance to celebrate their marriage and spend some time together on their special day! Thanks Irene for taking such good care of me today!

Tomorrow my cousins are coming!

March 12 thru 18th

It is always good to be home. It sure is hot here though! There is a huge change in climate from San Jose to my house. Mom and dad bought me a wind machine to make sure that I am plenty cool. The dogs were very happy to see me! Luisa had put flowers all over my bed welcoming my return!

On Monday morning Luisa called my mom to tell her that she was not feeling well and would not be able to come to work this week. She has a cold! Of course no one that has a cold can be close to me as my immune system is terribly low right now. Mom was sad to hear this news. About two hours later Irene called my mom and she said she could not come to work either as she had the beginnings of a sore throat too! Pooey! Mom was super bummed to hear this news too! Irene and Luisa stayed away from the house this week as both of them had a cold. I woke up to my neck being red in the same spot where my catheter was in my neck. Turns out I have intertrigo again the bacteria that likes to grow on my neck. We are having to keep my neck super clean as it is still healing from the incision. Thankfully we had some cream to put on my neck to make the intertrigo go away.

Mom and I headed to the platform. Mom knows all my therapy moves and she worked out with me that week. Thankfully we had a neighbor come by that gave my mom a hand and helped her wash up all my bottles and chop my food for the week.

Considering that I had been in the hospital for three weeks I was working out pretty good! My head control is good and my legs are really strong. I can hold them together for a long time! The one thing I still need improvement in is my hands. I still do not like to bear weight in my hands. I can hold toys now for a longer time but I need to learn how to reach out and grab for them. It is just a matter of time! One of these days I am going to master these skills!

All in all I had a really good week. I am getting excited as my cousins will be here soon!
