Kathy’s visit!

Today I have a good friend coming to visit me. Her name is Kathy Petersen. She and my mom met a few years ago through the Lissencephaly/Miller Dieker Syndrome support group. Over the years they have become very close. Kathy has come twice now to my benefit in Texas and I am so excited about her coming to Costa Rica to see me! Kathy had a beautiful daughter named Lindsay. She was 31 years old when she passed last June. I look up to Lindsay as she was tough as nails, and had a zest to live life. She proved all the doctors wrong over and over again. She was and still is my hero! So many times people put limitations on us. There is nothing better when we prove them wrong, and Lindsay did just that and I plan to do the same!

Kathy is not too keen on flying but she has mustered up the nerves to come all the way here! We did many fun things together like swimming and taking strolls, and of course reading books. She brought me two beautiful books that were Lindsay’s and as well brought down three suitcases full of items for me. Not many people would make the this long journey lugging three over weight suitcases full of stuff for me!! She is a great friend!

Mom and Kathy had quite a few adventures together during her trip here! She got a good taste of how sometimes it can be crazy living here with the roads and obstacles life puts in front of you! Our car broke down more than once and thankfully I was only in the car once when it over heated. It is hot here right now and the car thought so too as it kept on wanting to over heat! Mom and Kathy somehow always managed to get back and home with the car. It is definitely time for my wheelchair van. We are waiting to get one unti my dad gets back home! My car seat is too small for me so hopefully I will have a van soon!

Thanks for coming to see me Kathy. I so enjoyed our time together and our cuddles. You are wonderful and kind and I am blessed to know you. Lindsay was one lucky girl to have a mom like you.
Love Malia xoxo

I do not know where to begin to say thank you to Malia and Rachel for welcoming me into their home and into their lives for 2 weeks. I am in awe of how well Malia is doing. I got to spend some quality time with all the people that are involved in Malia’s life. It was an amazing time. There are so many experiances to go into, but let me just say that EVERYDAY was an ADVENTURE! I cannot wait to go back…….

Love you all to the moon and back!
