Thanksgiving and a new diet for me!

November 28th

Thanksgiving is a nice holiday as it reminds everyone what to be thankful for. I am so thankful for my parents, my family and all my friends. I am thankful for my followers on this blog and hopefully every once in a while I can inspire or encourage another parent who is raising a kid like me. I am thankful for the strangers who do not even know me yet support me and our cause. I am thankful for God and all that He has blessed my family with. Today we are headed over to our friends Stephanie, Jim and Naia’s house for a fish extravaganza. Grilled mahi mahi and tuna! Mom did make a pumpkin pie to keep with tradition! We always have fun with them and I am looking forward to seeing them today. They are always so sweet to me.

I think I had mentioned before that I am trying out a new diet. At first I was taking in lots of good fat and protein… Now Shelbe my new nutritionist, has changed it to a high carb diet. Right now I get goat’s milk in the morning as well as  a homemade cereal made with barley. Mom grinds up the barley in her coffee grinder then makes the cereal. It works pretty good. Barley is very coarse so it has to be blended very well in order to pass through my tube. This morning I was asleep while mom was giving me my cereal thru my tube. Sometimes if the food is not blended up very finely it will get stuck in my tube and then we have to take it off and clean it in order for it to pass food again. Mom felt like the barley was stuck so gave it an extra little push to try and move it through. The next thing you know, the syringe slipped and mom shot cereal all over my face! I was sleeping so soundly that I did not even wake up! Can you believe that? Mom got a wash cloth and cleaned my face up and I still never woke up! Some days I can wake up to the slightest little sound but not today! I continued sleeping and mom went and made more cereal! What a morning but hey it’s Thanksgiving so I am grateful I was able to sleep through that!!!
